I am now in my 17th year selling Real Estate and have helped some clients make a move 3 or 4 times. When thinking about what it is like to be a Realtor now compared to when I first started, I can tell you it is quite different.
Back then we were using printed catalogues instead of computer based systems. Market evaluations were prepared by coping, cutting and pasting comparable properties into the written evaluation. The average contract to purchase a home was 2 pages then and is now 6 to 10 pages long. With supporting documents like identification, disclosures and titles, a buyer can easily end up looking at 10 to 15 documents when making an offer. With strata properties a buyer could be faced with a binder full of minutes, bylaws and financial statements to try and determine what they are buying into. While information is definitely easier to come by now, analyzing and putting it into perspective for a particular property I am evaluating for a seller or buyer is much more complicated.
